John James Barker
August 1, 1943 ~ November 6, 2016 (age 73)
John James Barker, 73, of Newark, DE peacefully passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2016.
John was born in Wilmington on August 1, 1943, son of the late Charles and Evelyn (Hess) Barker. A veteran of the United States Air Force, he was employed as a lineman and later, a quality control inspector, with General Motors Corporation and retired after 36 years of service. John began a second career as a machinist with Accudyne Systems, Inc., a position he held for 14 years.
A passionate car enthusiast, John’s pride and joy was his 1956 Chevrolet, and he enjoyed attending various car shows with his friends. He was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
John will be dearly missed by his wife of 23 years, Judy Dole; and their 3 beloved cats.
Friends are welcome to gather at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Thursday, November 10 from 11:30AM-12:00PM. Funeral services will begin at 12:00PM, with interment following in Hockessin Friends Cemetery.
